Your candidate-conversation allowance resets on the first day of each calendar month, whether you are billed monthly or annually, and anything unused expires with it. Replying inside a conversation you already have is free and never counts against it.
Subscriptions are renewed automatically, monthly or annually, depending on your membership level. You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated. Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing cycle.

Who needs a paid plan?
Only U.S. host employers, and only when they want more than five opportunities live or want to start conversations with candidates. Publishing up to five opportunities and receiving applications are free. Candidates and partner schools use J-1 Connect for free and are never asked for payment details.
Can I use J-1 Connect as an employer without paying?
Yes. Explorer is free and lets you keep up to five opportunities live, receive unlimited applications, and accept or decline them. Employers always open the conversation with a candidate, so a paid plan is what lets you reach out.
What counts as a new candidate conversation?
Each candidate you start a conversation with in a calendar month counts once, no matter how many messages you exchange afterwards. Replying inside a conversation you already have never counts again, and those conversations stay open on every plan, Explorer included.
Do unused conversations roll over?
No. Your allowance resets on the first day of each calendar month, whether you are billed monthly or annually, and anything unused expires with it.
Can I change plans later?
Any time. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated, so you only pay the difference for the rest of the cycle. Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing cycle, so you keep what you paid for.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep full access until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and your account then returns to the free Explorer plan. Your company profile, opportunities and applications stay in place. If more than five opportunities are live, the five most recently created remain live and the rest are set to inactive. Nothing is deleted, and you can change which five are live from your dashboard.
How is annual billing cheaper?
Annual plans are billed once for twelve months at a lower total than paying month by month. Switch the toggle above the plans to see the annual price for each tier.
