Description
The Cashier provides excellent customer service while processing sales quickly and accurately at the checkout. Responsibilities include scanning items, handling payments, issuing receipts, and assisting customers with inquiries about promotions or store policies. Cashiers also balance their registers at the end of each shift and maintain a clean and organized work area. This position builds foundational skills in customer service, communication, and point-of-sale operations while promoting Safeway’s values of quality and community care.
General requirements
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Stand/walk for extended periods; bend, reach, and lift up to 40–50 lbs. (with or without accommodation).
- Tolerate variable temperatures in coolers/freezers and brief outdoor tasks (cart retrieval, carry-outs).
- Dress code: Black, gray, khaki, navy blue solid slacks. Black slip resistant shoes. Black, white or navy polo shirt.
- Grooming code: Neat and clean: Nails, hair, breath, clothing.
Compensation
$12.75/hr
