Description
The Grocery Clerk is responsible for stocking shelves, rotating inventory, and maintaining product displays in assigned store departments. They check expiration dates, restock products efficiently, and ensure aisles are clean, organized, and well-labeled. This role involves frequent customer interaction, helping shoppers locate items and answering basic questions. Grocery Clerks gain hands-on experience in retail operations, merchandising, and inventory management while learning Safeway’s standards for freshness, safety, and product presentation.
General requirements
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Stand/walk for extended periods; bend, reach, and lift up to 40–50 lbs. (with or without accommodation).
- Tolerate variable temperatures in coolers/freezers and brief outdoor tasks (cart retrieval, carry-outs).
- Dress code: Black, gray, khaki, navy blue solid slacks. Black slip resistant shoes. Black, white or navy polo shirt.
- Grooming code: Neat and clean: Nails, hair, breath, clothing.
Compensation
$12.75/hr
