This culinary training equivalent is suited for candidates seeking exposure to a three-Michelin-star Korean fine-dining kitchen focused on “New Korean” cuisine, tasting-menu execution, and refined technique. Learning opportunities may include flavor development, timing, consistency, quality control, and disciplined fine-dining operations.
General requirements
The ideal candidate is a recent culinary, gastronomy, hospitality, or related program graduate with training in culinary arts, Korean or Asian cuisine, contemporary cuisine, fine dining, or restaurant operations. Candidates should have knife skills, mise en place discipline, sanitation awareness, attention to detail, humility, professionalism, and interest in Michelin-level Korean cuisine. Prior internships, stages, apprenticeships, commis, line cook, pastry cook, or chef de partie exposure are preferred. The candidate must be coachable, punctual, adaptable, organized, resilient, and committed to structured training and cultural exchange.
Compensation
Pay rate: $20+ per hour, based on the participant’s experience and qualifications.
Benefits & perks

Additional information
Training at Jungsik requires exceptional discipline, humility, precision, and deep respect for Korean culinary identity. A strong candidate should be serious about Korean ingredients, sauces, seafood or meat handling, plating, timing, cleanliness, and the standards expected in a three-Michelin-star restaurant. Because Jungsik’s cuisine is known as “New Korean,” the participant should be curious about how Korean flavors, modern technique, presentation, and fine-dining service come together in a highly refined tasting-menu format.
To succeed in this environment, the participant should bring strong culinary fundamentals, stamina, focus, and the ability to receive direct feedback without losing confidence. Jungsik appears best suited for candidates who can work cleanly, communicate respectfully with chefs, adapt to detailed standards, and understand that consistency is built through repetition, observation, and trust.
For J-1 purposes, this role should be structured as supervised training rather than ordinary staffing. The training should focus on progressive exposure to mise en place, station organization, Korean ingredient handling, sauces, seafood or meat preparation, sanitation, plating standards, service timing, chef communication, and quality control. The participant should be ready to observe, practice, improve, and contribute professionally while learning how a three-Michelin-star Korean restaurant delivers identity, precision, elegance, and consistency.
