Via Carota

Via Carota is the West Village osteria of celebrated downtown chefs Rita Sodi and Jody Williams. Renowned for its simple, seasonal menu, Via Carota serves Italian food reminiscent of home in a spirit of relaxed care and warmth.

Inspired by the 17th-century villa in the hills near Florence that Sodi once called home, Via Carota honors old-world Italian roots, lifestyle and culinary traditions. The interior features heirloom keepsakes collected over the years by the chefs, and outside, the terrazza offers a place to enjoy good weather on beautiful, tree-lined Grove Street.

Part of Officina 1397, Via Carota ranked No. 18 on North America's 50 Best Restaurants in 2025, was rated AAA Four Diamond in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025, and was a James Beard semifinalist for Outstanding Restaurant in 2026, while Rita Sodi and Jody Williams won the James Beard Award for Best Chef: New York City in 2019.
