The Deer and The Dove

The Deer and The Dove is a restaurant in Decatur, Georgia, opened in June 2019 by Chef Terry Koval and his wife Jenn Koval as their dream restaurant in their longtime community. After two and a half decades of working in Atlanta's top kitchens, Koval has continued to embrace the community that has supported him throughout his career.

Chef Koval was nominated for the Star Chefs Sustainable Chefs award in 2012 and has been featured on Food Network's top-rated shows Chopped and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. He also received the Georgia Organics Farmer Champion award in 2020, 2021 and 2022, and continues to support Wholesome Wave Georgia and Slow Food Georgia. The Kovals are dedicated to their team, guests, community, local farmers and local aquaculture, and strive to encourage a creative, collaborative and thriving environment for staff as well as guests.

Terry Koval won the James Beard Foundation award for Best Chef: Southeast in 2023, and the restaurant received a Michelin Plate and the Slow Food Snail of Approval in 2025.
